It was a bright and sunny day. But this day wasn't just any day. This day would be a very special day indeed, for Jyou Kido. For this day was Valentines Day. And it was the day that he would finally show his feelings to the one he loved...

His hand shook a bit as he wrote upon the card, his handwriting rather messy. He sighed. I wish it could be neater... But it's from my heart.

I hope he'll understand...

And so, with a smile, he tucked the card below the ribbon of the heart shaped box of chocolates. Everything was ready...

He shot a quick glance at his watch. He would be home at 12. It was just past 11... If he left now, he could make it in time. And leave it at his house...

He hoped it would be with a pleasant suprise.

And so, with a smile, he picked up the box, and started on his way...

~~~~~
It was hot for a early spring day. Hot, and he had to get home. It was annoying that the class had gotten out so early... He'd expected so much from it.
Oh well, he could check his email...
With a smile, Koushiro Izumi walked along the sidewalk.
Other things drifted into his mind... Like the picture he kept by his computer. A picture that was at home...
It's the only way he'll ever look at me... Even if I had to cut it from a smaller picture of us all. Inlarge it... Edit out the fuzziness... Still... A sobering thought, but it brought a bittersweet smile to his lips.
At least he IS looking at me...
~~~~~
Well, he was almost there. I hope I have the courage to do this... I really do. Swallowing the fear that nearly caused him to stop and turn around, fleeing back to his house, Jyou turned the corner, off onto the main sidewalk.

Yes, he was almost there...

~~~~~
He saw the other boy as he walked out onto thw sidewalk. Well, it was him, or just someone ELSE with blue hair... That wasn't exaclty a normal trait. But still... Oh wait, his brother had bluish hair too...
But that wasn't the point.
He jogged, to catch up with him...
And as Jyou turned the corner, Koushiro noticed a piece of paper flutter away from the red box he clutched at his side...
~~~~~
I wonder how he'll take this... I don't want to freak him out... There isn't much more than that though, I suppose. I know this would freak me out... If he liked me...

But it would be a happy type of freakout.

I know I would be happy...

That's why I'm doing this at all.

He clutched his gift... Long since the name tag had drifted away.

He started to cross the street...

~~~~~
He picked it up. As he read the words, he wasn't sure what he was supposed to think. He didn't notice the time that weant by...
Shock, suprise... And something else.
One other emotion...
With a smile, he lifted his gaze. His cheeks were rather blushed...
That last emotion was pure happiness.
For the card read, though somewhat messy, To Koushiro Izumi with love. Only, Jyou was gone...
~~~~~
"Ano, Mrs. Izumi, is Koushiro here?" He asked, with a slight smile.

"Oh no, he's out at a class... What can I do for you, Jyou?" She asked with a smile.

"I have something for him... Could I leave it in his room for him?"

"Ooh, a gift? That's so sweet of you, Jyou... Koushiro needs to be cheered up. He gets so down, sometimes..."

With that, she ushered him inside the apartment.

"Thank you, Mrs. Izumi..."

~~~~~
He walked up the steps, each step brightening his day. He had to be on the way here... It was the only logical place for him to end up at. Especially with that card...
I hope I'm not getting myself worked up over nothing. That thought sobered his warmth... But he entered his house, and announced, "Tadaima!".
~~~~~
He set the box of chocolates down upon Koushiro's desk, lingering. It was nice to be here... With a smile, he looked around the room of the one he loved.

And stopped, shocked with something he could not understand.

A picture, by his computer.

No, HIS picture...

"Wh..why does he have a picture of...me..?"

He swallowed the emotion. Could he... No, it couldn't be that...

Again, he froze. This time as a voice rang through out the house...

"Tadaima!"

No! Koushiro was home... early...

I have to get out...

He found his escape route.

~~~~~
Koushiro lingered outside his bedroom door, hand over the knob. Yet he did not turn... He waited, and wondered. He swallowed his fear, and turned the knob.
The room was empty, and everything looked untouched. Except for...
The crismon heart shaped box upon the desk. And the window, which was opened... With a bit of cloth, tied to the edge of his completely dishevelled bed, going outside...
He moved to the window.
~~~~~
Oh God, why am I doing this?" He asked, as he slowly creeped down the makeshift rope. He'd torn the sheets from Koushiro's bed, and knotted them together...

Well, at least he lives on the third floor... And I'm almost down...

"Jyou!" His name? What the? He managed to look up. "About the card..."

He was too far away to see the smile upon Koushiro's face. He froze... And then felt the makeshift rope give.

He fell the last 10 feet...

One last thing before darkness... His name...

"JYOOOOOU!"

~~~~~
I feel like an idiot. Why did I do that? I could have just let him go away... And called him at home... But no, I had to... I had to...
Koushiro held in a sob, slumped against the seat in the waiting room. Jyou's parents were on their way... Shin was already their. He patted the other upon the head.
"Don't look so glum.. He'lkl be fine."
Koushiro lifted his gaze. "I hope..."
At that moment, the doctor entered the room. "Mr. Kido can have guests now.. would you like to see him?"
Koushiro was a blur.
~~~~~
He was sure he should hurt. But he didn't. Far from that, in fact. He actually felt rather fuzzy, and numb... Nice warm feeling...

The door opened, and his love rushed in.

"Jyou..!" He whispered, urgently.

"Ahh, Kou..shiro... Nice ta see ya.." Jyou smiled, happily. Too happily, almost. Damned drugs...

"Are you allright? How do you feel... I'm so sorry..."

"Is okay, is okay...I'm fine..."

"I'm glad... So glad..." He dropped his face. Only to realize that he had begun to cry.

"Eh..crying? Why ya crying? I'm fine..." "Wha? I'm okay... It's just a slight break. My leg'll be fine. I'll be fine..."

"You sure?" Koushiro asked, sniffling, lifting his gaze.

In response, Jyou lifted a slender arm to wipe away his tears. "It may be the drugs talking, but I love you. I have ta tell ya... I love you."

Silence. Suprised silence...

"I have for a long time."

Jyou looked almost ashamed. "Do ya hate me now?"

Hate you? How could I hate you... "Why would you say that? You've made me so happy... I... I... Thank you.. for the chocolates... Thank you... I..." He was babbling like a fool.

"I'll take that as 'I love you, Jyou'... Close enough."

Jyou was grinning. Koushiro nodded. "You could say that... And speaking of those chocolates, I think you should come over when you're out of here... So we can share them. I mean, I have to share them with someone special, right?"

Jyou nodded, eyes sparkling. "Happy Valentines..."

Koushiro beamed happily, touching his hand to Jyou's cheek. "Happy Valentines, Jyou..."
