The day passed by slowly. Slow in so many ways.

Sora had not yet awoken, and she lay pale, guarded by Piyomon, and a mesh of others. It was too blurry in his mind, for Jyou to realize who it al was. But he knew one thing, and one thing with certainty. It was night, and the stars were the only source of light...

Strange, he was sure they only thought he was so still, so depressed, because of a fallen friend.

Not to say that he didn't care... There were other things on his mind, though. Things that had haunted him through the long hours of the day...

Koushiro. She liked Koushiro...

But so do I.

A small, childish voice, arose within him, and said, stubbornly. You liked him first... she shouldn't have any say in this.

The voice was right... He knew that, understood it completely. But for that reason.. That was wrong.

I can't just claim him, that would be wrong. I need to talk to him, and tell him...

His cheeks burned suddenly, with a blush. Telling him meant revealing it all, didn't it? The times he'd watched him, the times he'd thought about him... Why was it as if, for the longest time, Jyou could only think of Koushiro?

It was so strange... but the thoughts were nice, very nice indeed.

"Is this safe Jyou? You've been sitting here all day, shouldn't you walk around or something?" Gomamon's voice interrupted him, and the boy looked down at his digimon, a strangely startled look on his face.

"Goma-mon! I didn't hear you coming..." His voice sounded sheepish,and he looked away, pushing his glasses up his nose.

Gomamon sat beside him, resting his head agianst Jyou's legs. "That's the surprise of it all!" The digimon grinned. Jyou sighed.

"I guess so... But really, what brings you here?" It was a simple question.

"You seem so sad, Jyou. I can tell it.. they may all be worried about Sora, and I know you are too.. But this is more than just taht. I know it..."

"Do you know me that well?" He asked, ruefully. Gomamon grinned.

"I'm your friend, Jyou, I know you better than you know your self!"

Jyou sighed, and shook his head. I'm sure you don't know what I'm thinking right now.. I'm not even sure of it myself. He looked down though, suddenly. Gomamon was peering up at him, a look in his eyes. A look that reflected the same thought that buzzed around in Jyou's head...

"It's all confusing, I know..." Jyou said softly, and Gomamon merely rested against him.

Time passed, and the stars moved across the sky. Koushiro looked up at the sky, a distant look in his eyes. So strange... He sighed, and stood, closing his laptop. His mood called for a walk. And so he moved across the camp, passed sleeping friends. And noticed Jyou, resting against the tree. The same tree he had watched Jyou sitting at, the entire day long.

He dropped beside him, sitting. "Ne Jyou, why have you been here all day?"

Why the sudden desire to sit? He wasn't sure... but he was sure that Jyou's look was startled. Yet in a pleasant way...

Strange.

"Kou..Koushiro! What are you doing here? I didn't hear you..."

He patted Gomamon's head, sleeping Gomamon. Neither did I you... Weird. I must really not be here tonight.

"Gomen ne, Jyou..." He sat his laptop upon his lap. "What have you been doing here today?"

"Really?" He asked, chuckling. "Just sitting..."

"Is that all?" Koushiro asked, as if being called to do so, as he opened his laptop, and powered it up.

Jyou winced, and nodded. He really doesn't see what he does... he just does it. And forgets the people around him.

"Just... thinking of something I needed to tell you." Jyou's words stunned himself, yet Koushiro did not look up, as he began typing. So much he needed to figure out.

"Oh, and what is that?"

"J..just..." Jyou stammered. "Nothing really."

"But that makes no sense, Jyou..." Koushiro replied easily. "If it was nothing, you would not have brought it up..."

Jyou grinned, and looked down at Koushiro. The way the light from the screen illuminated his face.. he wanted to reach out, and touch his hair.. his cheek... make him look at him. And only at him...

Jyou blushed, when he realized he had reached out, and then let his arm drop.

"I suppose, but i really don't think it's anything at all..."

"Why do you say that?" Koushiro replied, quickly.

"Just... Just because."

"Jyou, that is not logical at all..." Koushiro was actually grinning, looking up at Jyou, and it was a look the elder boy liked upon the others face. Something he did not believe he got to see often... a look other than the one they were all so used to.

"I no it's not, Koushiro... Things just happen that way, I suppose."

Koushiro chuckled. "If you say so, Jyou..."

In that instant, his attention went back to his computer. Jyou sighed, in the dark once again.

Almost... he'd had the chance, so why hadn't he taken? Why? WHY?!

It was strange.. he was silent, yet his mind was screaming at him for his lack of courage. Not his mind, truly. His heart... Strange, letting himself be taken over by emotions. More and more... but this was the way things were turning out. That was all...

"Actually I think I can tell you..." Jyou wasn't aware of it, yet he couldn't control himself. He couldn't stop the words. They simply came.

"Hmm? Then what is it?"

Jyou winced. He didn't even look up.

"It's..." Silence fell, and he mused over what to say. In the space of a breath, he came to the conclusion.

"There's someone who's afraid to tell you how much they love you..."

~~~~~
Koushiro wasn't sure he'd heard what he had truly heard, so he paused, and lifted his gaze, turning to look up at Jyou. The boys lenses were a strange shield to his gaze, and Koushiro's breathing quickened. Someone... loves me? That couldn't be...
He shook his head. "Iie, Jyou.. you must be wrong."
But Jyou shook his head, his demeanor grim. "I'm not..I know I'm not. Someone loves you. And they're too afraid to say..."
One last word. One whisper, tossed upon the chill night air. "Who?"
Silence.
